For the third consecutive year, Vālenz® Health will serve as Title Sponsor of the Self-Insurance Institute of America (SIIA) National Conference, widely considered the largest and most influential professional gathering in the self-insured industry.
The SIIA National Conference will be held Sept. 22-24 at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Ariz. This year’s event will focus on how to “Lead” the way toward solutions that will shape the future of the self-insurance marketplace.
“Employers, TPAs, brokers, stop loss carriers and healthcare providers are seeking a more seamless approach to solving the complexity of healthcare. At the SIIA National Conference, we look forward to sharing how we can work together to simplify healthcare,” said Rob Gelb, Chief Executive Officer of Valenz Health. “We are addressing the unmet needs of our industry by creating a simplified platform for high-value care that can yield greater transparency, flexibility and cost controls, while meeting modern member needs through a consumer-driven approach.”
This marks the first major industry event since Valenz Health acquired Healthcare Bluebook, a leading healthcare cost and quality navigation platform, in July 2024. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with the Valenz Health team to learn more about how the company and its customers are transforming access and outcomes by integrating Healthcare Bluebook’s cost, quality and utilization data sets and tools with curated cost-containment and contracted/non-contracted provider network solutions.
According to Gelb, the Valenz Health single platform of integrated solutions solves the challenge of point solution fatigue. “We turned this challenge into change by listening, learning and engaging our customers, which opened the new opportunity for high-value care to take hold across the self-insured landscape,” Gelb said.
Valenz Health has been a Diamond Member of SIIA since 2020, signifying the highest level of support for SIIA’s mission and demonstrating a leadership position in serving the needs of the self-insurance community.

As the costs and complexities of healthcare continue to skyrocket, the methods of pricing for provider services and the way the industry looks at care are facing a much-needed change.
Historically, providers have received separate payments for each individual service or patient treatment. This fee-for-service reimbursement model, used by many commercial payers, relies on provider networks and focuses on the quantity of services provided, rather than the total package of care and the cost and quality of those services. In addition, when coupled with the complications of insurance billing and reimbursement, fee-for-service models often lead to inflated costs for patients and providers.
Vālenz® Health believes employers can generate greater savings, appropriate utilization and higher quality of care when deploying healthcare models built on episodes of care, as demonstrated through the Valenz comprehensive range of care bundles. Although bundled pricing is not new, the Valenz model is distinctly different, as it deploys numerous reliable data sources to arrive at defensible local market-sensitive rates while driving members to high-value care.
By aggregating years of robust data from thousands of provider network cases with industry-leading sources of payment-, cost-, charge-based and clinical data sets, together with intuitive member navigation, Valenz optimizes cost, quality and utilization of care. Read more in our white paper.

Get to know Mike Reese, Vice President, Member Advocacy, in this month’s Cultural Case Study!
1.) What is one word you’d use to describe Valenz culture?
Engaging. My experience has been that the Valenz culture is people focused. We concentrate on engaging with team members to produce a fun and collaborative environment. Our goal is to have a culture where team members can tap into their purpose and also experience joy in what they do. We’re also focused on our patients, as well, ensuring that we’re actively engaging with them and providing the most positive healthcare experience they have ever had. At Valenz, we really do engage early and often – not just with our patients, but also with our own teams.
2.) When someone asks you about work/Valenz, what do you say?
As the Vice President of Member Advocacy, I oversee multiple departments and support the growth and development of the leaders on those teams. More importantly, I like to share that my favorite part of my job is the people. I feel very fortunate to be part of such a supportive culture! I enjoy the folks I work with, and it’s great to be able to provide them with the tools and resources they need to get their jobs done to the best of their abilities. Knowing that I’m supporting the team that’s making a difference in the lives of the members and patients we work with is very fulfilling. Something else I like sharing about Valenz is the growth of the organization. It’s pretty awesome to look at the growth of the company in every department and see the impacts we are having on an increasing number of members as we help them get the care they need at no cost!
3.) How is Valenz a good fit for your talents, skills, and passions?
I thrive in environments where I can share new ideas, help people grow, and get the chance to be innovative, and Valenz is certainly an environment that fits that bill. There’s lots of brainstorming here, and we’re lucky to have so many subject matter experts on different topics, so coming up with new ideas and solutions with folks who have deep knowledge is enjoyable and fulfilling. The culture here is also very welcoming to new ideas, solutions, and trying new things – no matter who the idea comes from! You don’t have to be a Vice President here to have folks listen to your ideas.
